Windows 7: Windows 7 Sleep ignores running Virtual XP applications

Windows 7 Sleep ignores running Virtual XP applications

I am running Windows 7, 64-bit RTM and the Windows XP Mode RC build. I had the Sleep in Windows 7 set to occur after 1-hour. In the Virtual XP machine, I am running XP Backup on various systems on the network.

When Windows 7 goes to sleep, it ignores the fact that there is a running application running in the Virtual XP machine and does it anyway. In order to allow applications to run in the virtual machine and make sure they would complete whatever they were doing, I had to set Windows 7 to Sleep=Never. It is also true that a Scheduled Task in XP fails to start because it does not wake up the Windows 7 machine.

Is this:
1. A known problem?
2. Something I am doing wrong?
3. The way it is designed?
