    Can I install windows 2008 on a virtual pc Using Win7 Ultimate?


    Hello

    I have windows 7 ultimate

    when downloading the Virtual Pc from Microsoft...it is written in the Supported guest operating system: Xp - Vista - 7

    So, Can I download Virtual Pc and then Install windows 2008 R2 on the Virtual Hard Drive ?

    yes or No ?

    I believe so. If not, download and use something like VirtualBox or VMWare Player. Both of those are free and can certainly do it.

    So, I will try VP first

    if it doesn't welcome win 2008

    I will download Vmware

    but is VMware easy going just like virtual pc or its more complicated?

    actually Vpc didn't work with windows 2k8 installation

    I am going now with the VMware edition .. but could u plz help me choose which program to download?

    VMWare Player is the product that you want, it's the freebie version of VMWare Worsktation.

    UPDATE - SOLVED

    I solved the Network Error issue that occurred with MS Virtual PC

    I edited the RAM memory setting in Virtual PC to 2GB

    Inserted the Windows 2k8 R2 DVD and installed smoothly
    ----------------------------------

    I'm surprised that Virtual PC allowed an install of Windows 2008 R2, as R2 is x64, which isn't supposed to be supported by Virtual PC. I may have to test that out in a VM.

    Yes Kebero, and the R2 Enterprise comes in both x86 and 64bit
