Can I use VPC 2007 with 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium?

If not, will I be able to use it with Windows 7 Professional?

You cannot use it on Windows 7 HP, but you can use it on Windows 7 Professional.

I use it without problems and have better results than with Windows Virtual PC for Windows 7. Of course you can't have xp mode with Windows HP.

My university gives computer science majors certain software for free, and Windows 7 Professional is one of those. I have it downloading right now, but is there anything in particular that I'd need to know in order to upgrade?

My apologies, as TJG has pointed out, you can use Virtual PC with Home Premium, but of course you can't use XP Mode unless you have Windows 7 Professional.

    Clean Install Windows 7

If you don't want to go through a full-blown clean install, you can use the Windows Professional product key to carry out a Windows Anytime Upgrade.

What this does is download and install the files needed to upgrade from Home Premium to Professional, but it leaves all your personal data and installed programs intact.

You would still need to activate the upgrade as you would the clean install.

"The upgrade key you entered is for a version of Windows that does not work with Windows Anytime Upgrade."

Is it safe to assume that this is because they gave me the software for free?

And I only wanted to play Journeyman Project at first, but while I'm at it I want to go ahead and upgrade if it doesn't mean wiping everything from my computer.

    I would imagine so.

I have the retail version of Windows 7 on DVD and it states on the disc that Windows Anytime Upgrade is included.

The other method of getting it is to buy a product key from Microsoft, and then carrying out the upgrade.
