Windows 7 Prof. runs VMWARE-Player 4.0.3 containig WinXP: No Internet

    Hi,

    I use Windos 7 Professional 32Bit.
    I installed VMWARE Player 4.0.3.
I installed Windows XP in VMWare.
I tried several settings for "network connection": Bridged, NAT, Host-only.

    Automatic Windows-Update works.

But there is no posibilty to get a Internet connection.

I remember one year ago, this worked.

    Any Ideas?

    Regards
    Manfred

Did you uninstall any network adapter installed by VMware? Did you disable any service that is run by this app?
If any is yes, try to uninstall and reinstall to see if that works

    See ya!!

So you are unable to navigate using a browser? sounds weird... do you have more than one network device in Network Connections? if so, check if VMware bridged networking protocol is installed in your primary...
Check this may work for you
    VMware Player vmnetcfg

I recently installed VMware 4.0.4 without any apparent problems. However i cannot access the internet running WIN XP Pro as a guest. The host OS (Win 7 Home) can access the internet successfully using an Ethernet cable. Under Network Connections (on the guest OS) -> Local Area Connections the icon shows a big red X and err msg - "network cable unplugged". This is strange since the host (Win 7) is able to access the internet successfully using the same high-speed cable. The ethernet cable connects the network adapter to a Linksys router and then to a high speed cable modem which allows access to the internet. Why would the guest (Win XP Pro) not be able to use the same hardware ? Thanx.
