Can i boot from a VHD (Virtual Hard Drive)

Hi, i was wondering if it is possible to boot my computer from a vhd and add it to the boot menu. I do not want to dual boot, I am trying to use the vhd like a dual boot. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

    Thanks
