Trouble installing printer driver in Windows XP Mode
I have two printers - HP Laser & HP Photosmart All-in-one C7280. They're both installed in my Windows 7. The HP Laser is installed on XP Mode. All of the printers are installed through the network. I was trying to install the Photosmart in XP mode and it wouldn't recognize the printer. So, I tried it through wired network. Then, hooked it up with the USB and it still wouldn't recognize it. I did some searching online and found the USB tab at the top of XP Mode, it sees the printer - when I click "attach" it gives me a message "can't connect using USB try other USB port or restart and try again" I did so and restarted the whole computer and nothing.
I called Sony and they will not help at all because it is considered a "software" issue they will not help me unless I pay. Which isn't right because I have the extended warranty on the computer. I guess I will be going back to DELL after this computer - they help you day or night and have awesome customer service and their techs are very nice.
On the Sony site I found I could get 15 Min free help. That was a waste. They tested the printers in reg mode and did nothing about XP mode. At the end of the 15 min they had gone through my event viewer and said I have a lot of issues and they need to fix my registry and it will cost $xx.xx. I DL System Checkup from DELL just to see what it would find. It found 504 registry errors.
My two questions:
Is the registry something I can fix? Is it something to worry about?
Where do I start on trying to get the printer to install on XP MOde?
