Problem seeing other PCs under Virtual XP

I've installed Windows 7 on a work machine, setup and installed Virtual XP and gotten the technician to connect Virtual XP to the domain. After logging to the domain in I can see networked resources (such as networked hard-drives), but no machines on the domain (ie. by going through the Microsoft Windows Network and double-clicking on the domain name).

What would be preventing me from seeing these other machines (vital for a piece of software we are running) that are normally visible with the computers running XP, and how would I resolve this?

try change network from NAT to bridged, so the vm has a real physical IP address

The solution was deceptively simple (found via another post), changing the network adapter in the settings to the computers actual adapter (rather than sharing) allowed the network to become visible.

Also, remember that when you browse through network neighborhood, that is using the NetBIOS protocol to resolve names, not DNS. So unless you are using an old NT4 domain, your name resolutions on an active directory domain will almost always be DNS. Some companies use WINS as a crutch to backup DNS incase of hiccups or minor failures but generally you will always see DNS. WINS certainly cant perform the advanced functions of DNS that are required for proper function of an Active Directory domain.
