is it possable to boot from the windows xp mode vhd? i want to boot from it like a duel boot system.

Unfortunately, no. You can only do this with Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. Supposedly this is possible on Vista SP1 and Server 2008 if you replace the bootloader with the new Windows 7 version but this is more trouble than it's worth.
