VMware player vs Virtual Box
Does anyone have any preference between Virtual Box and VMware Player?
Does anyone have any preference between Virtual Box and VMware Player?
I use and like them both but I think I would give VMWare Player the nod if I had to choose one over the other. Either is better than MS Virtual PC.
I have used both and for most of my current VMs I prefer VirtualBox. VMPlayer is perhaps more stable but has one essential facility missing, the ability to make snapshots. These are vital when you are using the VM to test software so that you can back out any disasters quickly.
Personally, I prefer VMware Player, no snapshots that's true, but is more stable, and 3d engine works properly (In Virtualbox this is still experimental and has many flaws)
I finished installing VMware player and then XP. Everything seems to be working fine. I did try Virtual Box awhile back and have decided that I prefer VMware. Thanks for your feedback.
In my case, even Vista and 7 had issues and problems regarding Aero (artifacts, real problems with image rendering and window drawing) and they just claim that updating your VGA drivers solve the issues, that certainly do, except that my main virtualizing plattform is my laptop, in which updating drivers could result in unspected results in overall system stability... and finally, is silly, because VMware Player need no updates in there and Works properly...
You won't regret it :)
VMWare is my preference as well. I work with their enterprise products at work (vSphere), so i really like having the consistency. VMWare Player is a great app. For those who do a lot with virtualization, the Workstation product is great. Being able to take snapshots, creating templates and making deployable .ovf's is great. But it is a $200 product.
I prefer VMWare because it allows me to use all three of my monitors in VM mode (nice to have).
