How do I know if my MB has VTM?
I want to install Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC to try and run a couple of older programs that will not run in Windows 7. The online instructions I found list several things your system must have in order to run the programs. My system meets all of the requirements except I do not know if my motherboard is capable of running "hardware virtualization". I cannot find anywhere in the bios referring to hardware virtualization or VMX. Does that mean my motherboard does not have hardware virtualization? My system is a Gateway GM5424 and the motherboard is an Intel (Stoughton) G965 motherboard. I have Windows 7 Pro. x64 retail installed. Thank you very much.

Thanks but no reference to Vanderpool in the bios. This bios in my Gateway is limited in what you can adjust. I usally build my own systems but I bought this one about 2 1/2 years ago. Can't overclock, can't change the CPU or memory voltage so it limits upgrading the hardware. Gateway.

Eddie,
1) The program's name is *securable* - same as the one you have. It cannot tell you right off if you are running VT or not b/c it is a 32bit process and cannot access the correct areas of the system in a 64bit OS.
2) There is no install to it - you download it and run it - it does what it is supposed to without writing any config files or to the registry (unless you specify to print the output).
BTW, your model# @ Gateway shows you have an Intel Core2Duo E8400 (gamer's paradise in terms of OCing) so more than likely you do have VT available to you - at least your CPU supports it.
Finally, I have no found anyone moaning that the mobo does *not* support VT, and from what I have seen, it'd be pretty stupid for Intel to not support it on one of their own boards, but stranger things have happened....
If you can get a 32bit OS installed as a second bootable OS (XP / Vista / Windows 7 then Securable will definitely tell you if VT works or not.
If you don't want to install a whole different OS, and if you can wait for a coupe of hours I'll be at home and I can upload a very small .ISO that you can burn to CD, then boot off of - and it will tell you if VT is enabled or not.

Thanks guys for all of the replies. Guy thanks for taking the time getting that file. I burned it but it didn't boot. I probably extracted it wrong or burned it wrong. Anyway I'll try again Monday since I'll be away for the weekend and I'll let you know how it works out.
