Windows XP Mode programs not available to Windows 7 - why?

I have just a few programs running in WXP, falling into two categories:
  1. MS-DOS programs I wrote myself that needed no special installation
  2. Commercial software that I have installed into WXP
Those programs will run in the Windows 7 host without any problem.

But there is one other category that I cannot launch in Windows 7, even though I have them appearing in the WXP StartMenu just like the others.

This category consists of pre-installed Windows applications such as games. I have copied shortcuts for several of these programs into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu. But they simply do not appear in the Windows 7 start menu anywhere.

What else can I do?
