How do I link old HD info to XP Mode?

I don't know if this has been covered before or not. I am searching the posted questions and answers. Any directions to web pages that show how to set up, use, and link to other sources would be helpful.

Background:
Last computer was using XP. the motherboard and the power supply both crashed. The main hard drive(C:\ drive) was fine. Got a new computer with Windows 7 Professional in it and down loaded both "Windows 7 XP Mode" and the "Virtual PC". got all of them up and running.
The XP hard drive was placed into the new computer and is now listed as the E:\ drive. The information can be read on the Windows seven machine.
I have used virtual machines at the local college, but have never had to try and set up one to use.

The Problem:
When the old computer died I was using Outlook Express for my e-mails. The e-mail list and my stored e-mails and my list of favorite websites are still on the E:\ drive and I have no way to retrieve any of this.
Question: ??
The main question I have is there some way that I can access or link the E:\ drive to the "Windows 7 XP Mode" virtual machine and retrieve my e-mail addresses. That is the primary item that I need. Any help with the secondary items listed above would also be nice, but aren't of major importance at this time. The e-mail address book is.

Hmmm. Could you try to drag and drop the files needed into the XP VM? I don't really work with VM's often.

I think that in order to do what you think, you have to boot from the harddrive. can't you research where the files that have your emails in them so you can just drag and drop?

I have tried what was suggested above with placing the information from my E:\ drive into the virtual C:\ drive. That part worked. I can get some of my small secondary programs to work. By secondary programs, I mean small stuff that I've picked up from various places on the web over the years. I still can't get my main programs to work.

It looks like I'm going to have to reinstall all of them. (What a pain.) That is if I can figure out how to get my DVD reader/writer, which is on the Windows 7 hard drive to read into the virtual C:\ drive. So it looks as if I'll be not only looking for information on the web, but also starting a new post here also

Try looking around in the actions bar at the top of XP Mode. Let me install it, and I'll get back to you within a few days time, possibly sooner.
