Virtualbox on windows7 host xp guest can not connect to the internet

hi all hope some one can help..
i have v-box running on win 7
in the vbox i have win xp
i have it set on bridge connection
i can ping the windows 7 side just fine but i can't ping 8.8.8.8 google and have no internet connection the internet on the host is fine like you guys can see there i am typing here ..
the router gateway address is 192.168.178.1
the windows host has a static ip of 192.168.178.107
the xp in the v-box can not connect with dhcp so i have it set manual
to ip 192.268.178.107
subnet 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.178.1
dns 1 : 192.168.178.1
dns 2 : 8.8.8.8
it is bridged with a wireless network
guest additions are installed

First of all welcome to the forums!

The network card you've bridged, is the same that you're using to connect the host? It can fail if you're not using that wifi connection or it's disabled.

Another thing that came to my attention is the IP of the guest. 192.268.178.107. Is it a typo or it's really 268 instead of 168?. In any case, both the guest and host must be on the same subnet (192.168.178.xxx) and have different values for the last digits, which you have the same (again, tell us if it's that way or just a mistake).

Also, if, on the guest, you leave the configuration as automatic, what values do you get when you run an ipconfig from command line?

sorry it was a typo 192.168.178.31 for the guest it should be
if i leave it on automatic i get 192.168.137.1
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 0.0.0.0 dns 0.0.0.0
yes it is the same connection i use to access the internet
all are on the same subnet i can ping the host it just dont see the internet
i can ping the machine from a different computer
