I am not sure I understand this part, I mean I need to install a 32Bit OS and I wanna try to install win7 32bit to see if my program works on it.

The tutorial you gave me is about systems specs which is something should be providing after I installed my OS right?

No- I'm saying that there is no point in trying to install W7 x32, as if it didn't work in x64, it most likely won't in x32 anyway. I am trying to get your system specs so I can see if there are drivers for your PC out there on the Internet.

    Hi

the windows 7 32bit version is working fine on my laptop and the programs that weren't working on the 64bit are now working on the 32bit version.

I have, however, set the info as you requested, the details about my laptop are in my profile. To note that it says that the os is 32bit but my laptop originally supports 64bit

If you think there are drivers available for my laptop so that I can use winXP 32bit then please let me know because this version of win7 32bit that I have installed doesn't use all the ram so is sort of pointless.

Eventhough I was looking to use win 7 64bit as host and have winxp 32bit on a virtual machine as a guest; knowing that this isn't possible, i would be happy if i can have a dual boot of win7 and xp

    thank you

If in your virtualization software you have some Network Connection settings, make sure that your network adapter is Bridged or if that don't work NAT.

Try with this, that worked for me.

Hi trinity, thank you for the reply.

I have already fixed the problem with the network, the problem in my virtual machine was related to drivers. I selected the option "intel desktop drivers" and then installed them from the intel website; after that I transferred them in the VM. Once I installed the drivers everything worked like a charm.

However the problem now is different. I know my thread is misleading but now I am asking help about the error I get on vm when i run my software
"sorry, this application cannot run under a virtual machine"
and another thing that I am trying to achieve, in case I don't fix the error above, is to get the drivers for win xp for my laptop and install the OS on the machine.

We can't get drivers unless we know the exact make and model of your laptop :)

I found display and WiFi drivers, which are probably the most two important. I'd say you could try to install it, and these drivers, and it will hopefully work.

I know it says HP, but it will work.

    THank you very much

I am trying now to install windows 7 32 bit first to see whether the program I am trying to make it work works on a 32 bit OS or not.

If not then I will try to install win xp. THe reason why I am leaving win xp as last option is because I heard that it messese with the boot if installed after a windows 7 OS. and I don't want to delete my win7 OS,install xp and then install win 7 again.

One problem I am having now while installing win 7 32bit is that is hanging on "expanding windows files"
I've tried to format the partition etc but no luck.

    How can I fix this?
Just check to see whether your processor is x86 or x64 It will tell you if you goto run type dxdiag and look under CPU
