Virtualized Windows XP 32bit on Windows7 64bit - no internet connectio

Hello everyone

I hope someone can help me with this as I have been searching and trying to solve this problem for a couple of a day but can't fix it.

I have installed win xp 32bit on my Windows 7 64bit because I need to run some programs that run only on xp (I am using VIrtualBox)

THe problem is that I am not getting any internet connection.
I have tried different variations: Shared Networking (NAT), Cable connected, Bridge etc but nothing happens. In addition, I also have the guest addition installed but this didn't fix the problem either.

If I go to device manager on my vm win xp, there are a few drivers the system is asking for, one is ethernet.

Now my question is whether I need to install this or not, if yes then how as drivers for my windows 7 won't work on xp.

Thank you

I have fixed the problem and now I can connect to the net.

I have another problem now.

I am getting "sorry, this application cannot run under a virtual machine"

Is it there anyway to fix this?

You might be better off dual booting.

They will be two different OS's, so yes, you can install.
We can get drivers with your system specs.

Here's how: System Info - See Your System Specs
Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built.

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.
After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts. Click on mine in the lower left to see how it should look.

THank you very much

I am trying now to install windows 7 32 bit first to see whether the program I am trying to make it work works on a 32 bit OS or not.

If not then I will try to install win xp. THe reason why I am leaving win xp as last option is because I heard that it messese with the boot if installed after a windows 7 OS. and I don't want to delete my Windows 7 OS,install xp and then install win 7 again.

One problem I am having now while installing win 7 32bit is that is hanging on "expanding windows files"
I've tried to format the partition etc but no luck.

How can I fix this?

There is no need to install x32. Leave your x64 alone. Please, read the tutorial and if you follow it correctly, it won't mess with the boot. Could you please fill in your system specs?
