XP mode, unknown publisher message

When I open my XP mode virtual window and attempt to run a program, I get a message that says "unknown publisher", and talks about digital signature cannot be verified.

Is there some way to tell virtual XP that "program X" is ok? In this particular instance, the program involved is a DOS program.

I do not get that message when running the same program on a real XP machine.

Can you be more specific, are you trying to run the program from a shortcut, DOS Prompt etc? What is the program?

I have a shortcuts on my virtual mode XP desktop that point to programs which exist on a networked drive. Most of them are DOS programs, but another one that gets the same message is a program that was written for Win 3.1. Some of these shortcuts run one of my DOS programs directly, others are running a CMD file which uses my 4NT command processor.

FWIW, one particular program is called BlueWave -- a reader for offline messages from a BBS. Another is called MealMaster, which is a DOS based recipe program.

Can you access your network drive OK from the virtual and the host machine? You may need to check the firewall on both host and VM are not blocking the program. You may need to create new shortcuts as the shares may be different drive letters etc.

As I said in another post (as yet unanswered), I am having trouble getting networking set up between the virtual machine, the host machine and another computer on my local net (which uses XP Pro). My Win7 computer can see and manipulate files on the XP Pro computer. It is not able to do anything with the files in the virtual machine, although it does sometimes see it as being a member of WORKGROUP.

On the virtual machine, I was once able to get to the XP Pro machine. I set up networked drives in the virtual machine pointing to drives on the XP Pro machine. Now, even though the virtual machine does not see the XP Pro machine as being part of WORKGROUP, I can still access the networked drives (which are given the same drive letters in the virtual machine as they have on the XP Pro machine). This does allow me to run programs, etc. on those drives -- but always gives me the warning message first.

I'll go try to look at the firewall settings. I should have Windows firewall turned off on all machines, and Norton's firewall active.

Make sure you have accounts set up the same (Your User Name / Same password) on all machines and make sure you have enabled sharing from the drive (C,D,G,H, etc)properties on the host and virtual machine and enable Integration Features from the tools menu of the virtual machine.
Yeah I would never look in networking forums as I am not an expert in the ins and out of that. This seems to be a configuration issue or you are being blocked by a firewall.
