Windows 7: vmware workstation 9.0.1 build-894247 Sound hosed up

Seem to have a problem with the latest release of VMware workstation 9.0.1 build-894247

running XP sp2 and W2003 server virtual machines on Win 7 -X-64 and W8 x-64 Hosts the sound is totally garbled. (Hosts were the ULTIMATE version of Windows 7 and ENTERPRISE version of W8).

Linux SUSE 14.0 64 bit runs without this problem as a VM so it is something with Windows guests.

My Host is using "HD Audio driver" from Ms -- even ioI change it yo

Worked fine in release 9.00 and earlier.

Even reverting VMware tools back to a previous version doesn't fix problem.

I've un-installed 9.01 and gone back to release 8 (can't find 9.00 any more)

Problem now fixed but I'd really like to use 9.00
