    XP-mode won't install on Windows 7 Professional

I'm having problems getting XP mode to work in Windows 7 Professional.

When attempting to start XP-mode, after entering password details and turning on automatic updates, I receive an error telling me that "VT is disabled, or I may have to disable Trusted Execution Technology (TXT)".

According to the Intel Processor ID Utility, VT is supported by my processor and enabled.

Looking into my BIOS, I found that VT is indeed enabled (I have also disabled it and followed the steps in the sticky to re-enable it) but I cannot seem to find a setting to disable/enable Trusted Execution Technology.

My processor is a Core i7 920 and my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?

Hello DAVco Welcome to the Se7enforums!

The first question I could ask here would be if you installed the new Virtual PC along with the XP Mode or just that alone? The Virtual PC is required and needs to go first ahead of the XP Mode itself. In fact the finished version of both will be available on 10/22 by the looks of things in time for 7's release on that date!

The thing to look over now however is the guide for installation and setup since that will take you through everything one step at a time. Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup

Im having the same problem. Mine has previously run and one day it came up with the message and will no longer run. Bios settings were configured correctly and have not been changed so I'm looking for suggestions

    Welcome to SF! skiersteve

I ran into similar problems only with 7 as well as a few Linux distros on the SUN Portable Virtual Box installed to a usb flash drive however. It took quite a bit longer but each one on it's suddenly refused to load as if there was a time limit.

If you are still using the VPC or XP Mode RC and not the final version for each I would simply uninstall both and go for the finished version of each now seen. From there make sure to install the Virtual PC first and make sure you have one full restart of the system before going to install the XP Mode and run that to see working results But still refer to the guide seen for this at the link posted earlier.
