Can the CD/DVD Drive for physical computer be added to Virtual PC?

I am trying to use the Windows XP Mode Virtual PC to play CIV II. The game does not find the CD in the CD/DVD Drive. The "Computer" screen for the Virtual PC does not include the CD/DVD drive in the list of removable media devices. Can this drive be added to the Virtual PC?

DVD drive works fine on my XP modeLooks like your DVD drive's driver is not compatible with XP mode. Maybe you can find a driver from your manufacturer and install it on XP mode.

First Let me say thanks for the quick response and help.

But I do have a question, when I check the properties of the CD/DVD drive in the device manager in XP Mode it gives me this message "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". Would a new device driver correct that problem?

A bit of Google search shows that Microsoft has recognized this kind of problem and has a solution on their website: Code 19: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged

Hope their solution works for you.

HOORAY!! Thanks for the information. I tried every google search I could come up with and never saw that article. Removing the filters as described in the linked article (The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that is running Windows Vista) worked and now my CD/DVD drive is visible as if it were on my physical computer. My CIV II disk is now available when I play the game. Thanks so very much for the help.
