Accessing the Virtual Bios in vmware products

    Hi all
Here's a little trick you might like when you need to re-boot your VM from a CD in using vmware server or vmware workstation.

The problem especially on fast hardware - and particularly in vmware server where you have to use the web based console is that the boot process takes place so quickly that you haven't got time to het the mouse to enable user input on the black vmware start up screen and press F2 to enter the Virtual Bios where you can change the default boot order.

Anyway the trick is to add this line into the .vmx configuration file.

bios.bootDelay = “boot delay in milliseconds”

so if you say bios.bootDelay = "10000" you get 10 secs to enter the BIOS -- a much more reasonable time.

    Cheers

    Easy way!
Under menu VM.....Power.....Power On to Bios (last in the list)
