Install Linux in a Windows 7 virtual machine... Now that I have gotten rid of all of my linux machines, I have a need for one, mainly to install and test some work related apps that run on linux server.. I am wondering, if there is a way to install Linux as I did XP, in a Windows 7 virtual machine, and what the steps would be to do so.. This is not a linux is better post in the slightest.. I have been happily running 7 on 3 home based machines for the last 3 months, own 1 copy, and am patiently awaiting the chance to purchase 2 more.. If anything, this function would endear me more to the already brilliant OS..
Thanks!!

yeah. I guess I posted in the wrong subject.. maybe a mod can move this if he/she sees it..
Anyways, those solutions are good, but not really what I am after.. I was hoping to use the built in virtual machine software in win 7, to actually install Linux onto a vitual machine.. Would rather not have more than one vitual machine software running if I can avoid it, and am currently using the xpmode softare.. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Amd 5400+ dual core overclocked to 3.0 ghz Motherboard EVGA 590 sli aM2 Memory 8gb 5-5-5-5-15 g-skill Graphics Card Nvidia 9800gt 512mb Sound Card M-Audio Delta 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Acer 22 inch lcd Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard some rubbish I found in my garage Mouse logitech PSU 650 watts Case Antec Sonata II Cooling Zallmen Xpu cooler Hard Drives Hmm

I get an error that states something about 'please insert a disk in the drive.. with a path to a location'.. any suggestions..
My hope was to create multiple virtual machines, with their own hard drive space, etc.. inside my Windows 7 installation. And my hope was to do this using the built in virtual machine application.. Is it possible to do this? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Amd 5400+ dual core overclocked to 3.0 ghz Motherboard EVGA 590 sli aM2 Memory 8gb 5-5-5-5-15 g-skill Graphics Card Nvidia 9800gt 512mb Sound Card M-Audio Delta 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Acer 22 inch lcd Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard some rubbish I found in my garage Mouse logitech PSU 650 watts Case Antec Sonata II Cooling Zallmen Xpu cooler Hard Drives Hmm

Yes, Sun vBox works very well and you can install directly from the ISO file. I had made a little tutorial a while ago. Don't get confused by the title because it was originally made to install Windows 7 Beta. But works just as well for Ubuntu - i have one running in vBox.
