Moving virtual machines?

Hi all, my first post here.

I have three virtual machines created in previous release of Win7 (7100, if I am not mistaken). Recently I've gotten a new (SSD) hard drive and naturally migrated to an RTM. Copied .vhd and .vmx files to new system. Now when I try to create a new virtual machine and use one of these .vhd files I won't let me saying that either hierarchy of disks is broken or one of the parent disks is missing.

Is(are) there some other file(s) that I need in order to use these virtual machines/disks? I don't need (nor want to) boot to those, all I want is to be able to use them from within my host Windows 7 system.

Everything is happening on the same laptop, it's just that hard drive and OS have been changed.

I wouldnt think it would be any issues. When u create a VM and allocated your VHD by pointing to it, doesn't matter if it's on your new HDD or on a USB drive, it should work provided there is no issues with the actual VHD itself.
