XP Mode Published IE Application W/ Java Not Loading
Like many, we are using XP Mode on Windows 7 (Pro 64) for application compatibility issues.
We have one problematic web application, an older version of Oracle Financials, that utilizes IE 7 with an old version of Java 6 (1.6.0_07-b06) along with JInitiator 220.127.116.11.
The application works perfectly when launched within the XP Virtual PC. However, when launching via the Internet Explorer 7 application that is published to the Windows 7 system, the web application stalls at the point Java is typically launched - which is the presentation of the login credentials. If you let the system sit undisturbed, the page will load in 8 to 10 minutes. When launching the same page directly in the XP Virtual PC, the page loads in seconds.
When the IE7 published application is launched the JRE is also launched, as visible by an icon in the Windows 7 system tray. Interestingly, while the page is stalled, if I right-click the Java system tray icon and select "show console", the page almost instantly becomes responsive (without making any changes in the console - simply showing it).
I'm baffled since page WILL eventually load when running the published application. If it were an issue calling the Java browser plugin, I would think it would either work or not - and not just work very slowly. Why does it work (very quickly) running directly in the XP VPC, but not when via a published app?
Thanks all, hope that made sense
