XP Mode stopped working after windows 7 update

I have windows 7 pro installed on a Dell Inspiron 620. Since I had some programs and hardware I needed to continue using, I installed XP Mode which has worked perfectly for the past 2 years. A couple of nights ago, when I left XP mode running, some windows updates were installed and the computer restarted. Now XP mode will not start properly. I get an error message-- "The requested operation could not be completed because the terminal connection is currently busy processing a connect operation."
That disappears and it asks for my password again, it works on enabling integration features, then the error message repeats or password requested again and it just keeps going in a circle, never starting.

Any suggestions for someone who is not that tech savvy? I would prefer not to have to reinstall as it was a bit tricky to get my printer set up. I need access to information accessed by one of the programs fairly soon.

    Thanks

Managed to fix it by deleting a file.
