I have install windows xp mode on my windows 7 64bit laptop. I also install MS SQL Server 2008R2 on windows 7 as server. How do i connect from win xp mode (client) to windows 7(server) as my laptop is running standalone not in networking environment, I also need to map network to share folder on windows 7 from windows xp mode.

Not sure about XP mode per se - but you can do it normally if the VM is on the same physical Host. Just see if there is a network option HOST ONLY networking.
I'd go for a SEPARATE XP system rather than mess around with XP mode -- but that's just my personal preference.
Without at least Host only networking you won't be able to connect to your MSSQL server from XP.
You need to disable any of the "Unity" features and run it as a Networked machine (even though it's on the same physical host).
Host only networking provides a network link between the Host and the VM only -- the VM will only have access to the Host and won't be able to see or access any other part of any network your W7 is connected to. It also won't have Internet access either. ( I think the option on XP mode is called Internal networking - I come from using VMware but it's the same thing).
Don't forget to define the HOST disks you want to allow the XP machine to access as SHARED. If you have firewalls allow access through it to. Also define the XP disks as shared.
