Making VirtualBox 4.3.16 r95972 faster?

I am currently using VirtualBox 4.3.16 r95972 to use different Operating Systems, and I would like to know how to make it run faster, as when I am using Ubuntu through it, it is extremely slow.

Usually by allocationg more RAM and CPU cores to vBox. I don't quit remember how that is done in vBox because I now use VMware Player since years. And there it is dead simple.
