Window preview in taskbar wont open

Little, yet annoying problem.. I often find that the window preview wont open up when I mouse over various applications in windows 7. Anyone knows what may cause it?

The weird thing is that it does work most the time, yet not always..

Thank you for the welcome, here are the apps in order they are in taskbar:

Firefox (pinned)- Notepad (pinned)- Folders- Windows media player(playing a song)- Windows messenger- Skype (2 windows)- uTorrent.

Windows media player should be showing up as a miniplayer when you mouse over it, yet it doesn't as of the moment I am writing it, neither does skype shows it's 2 windows. weird thing is that sometimes it works as it should, sometimes doesn't work at all.

Also I should add that this problem applies to all apps, one time they all work, other minute none of them does.

Have you made any sort of modifications to your system? Are you perchance playing a game that is disabling Aero, or else running some app that is disabling Aero?

I have not made any modifications what I am aware of, except for trying to get DreamScene to get working, but I removed any traces of that, and aero is still working for me even thou the preview doesn't. The working / not working state triggers to often o think it is caused by some application I think.

Hello all, I have this exact issue. Sometimes the taskbar preview just doesn't work and instead only the small yellow dialog box comes over when I hove telling me what the program is. Any solution?

    Hello smood,

Does this happen when you bring your computer out of sleep?

No just when I'm using my system (its a desktop so I don't really put it in sleep), but I do often put the system in hibernate instead of shutting down.

Also restarting fixes the issue but theres no telling when it will crop up again. My theory is that it might be some program I'm running thats interfering with aero. Since on another win7 machine the same program messes up aero totally (disables it when run) while on my desktop win7 it retains aero. However when I start the program the issue doesn't come up immediately, it often takes sometime before the taskbar preview is gone so I am not sure.

Did anyone discovere anything new about this problem? Not for this specific reason but I formatted my laptop and I still keep getting the same behavior. I did not have this with 32-Bit version of Windows 7. I am using the same programs as I used in 32-Bit. All the drivers are up-to-date and all the programs are 100% compatible with Aero. It is very interesting
