USB inop after VirtualBox install

I see many questions about getting USB to work within the VirtualBox guest but my dilema is a bit different. After installing VirtualBox I no longer have access to USB harddrives within either the host or guest. Prior to the install USB mounting worked flawlessly. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate host with Windows 10 (upgrade from Win 7) as the VB guest.

I should clarify that the drives do mount but display as a non-initalized in both the Computer Management console and eject tree in the tray (as expected, not visible in explorer). USB flash drives and card readers remain readable in the host and the USB HDD's work fine in both the other bootable partition of the same computer along with any other computer.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled all Intel and generic USB drivers to no avail. It's not really a huge effort to completely uninstall VirtualBox to check if that is the conflict but if I can resolve the issue more easily that would be a positive. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
