Xp Mode Epson scanner problem

i5-750
4GB DDR3

Have installed XP mode, & V PC.
Have installed Epson Perfection 1250 Scanner in XP mode.
I am unable to access the scanner dfrom windows 7.
I have to restart XP mode, USB/Attach scanner. Then i can use the shortcut to the scanner from Win 7, but i then get error message;

Windows XP Mode - Windows Virtual PC
To open a virtual application, the virtual machine must be closed
Click Continue to open the virtual application. This will close the virtual machine and you will lose any unsaved data.
To avoid losing data, click Cancel and save any unsaved data. Then, log off from the virtual machine and try again.
[V] See details [Continue] [Cancel]

Once it has closed i can then use the Scanner. Which is fine for that session. Once i restart win 7, i have to go through the same again to be able to use the scanner.
Is this right.

I note that whenever i close XP mode, and then reopen i have to do a USB/Attach for the Scanner.

There are no 64bit win 7 drivers for the Scanner, hence XP mode.

Can someone enlighten me please.

i was surprised that epson even made a win7 driver, its a shame its a 32bit driver

Ok, Epson, they don't support XP Mode (XPM) or any other dual boot setup but I got my CX6000 printer/scanner to work in XP mode anyway.

On the Win 7 OS side, install the printer normally. Then in XPM, I opened control panel/printers/add a printer. I used the Windows driver: Epson and the model #. I got to ports. In here you'll see the parent win 7 ports that include the Win 7 PC name. I picked the TS### "computer name" PRN# port but I had to try each one until I could print a test page.

Assigning the port number may work with other devices not support by the manufacturer. Good luck.

I have the same problem. The XP VM works fine, but I need to manually attach the scanner every time I run the program. Is there a way to modify the script that starts the virtual machine to automatically attach the USB port to it when it runs?

The non-profit I volunteer at bought a new HP desktop running Windows 7, and I installed XP Mode so we could run an old typesetting program (PageMaker). PageMaker runs OK, and our HP printer works in both Windows 7 and XP mode.


But when I attempt to install the HP ScanJet 5300 USB scanner it appears in the Win7 Control Panel Device Manager Scanners and Cameras list, but because there is no Windows 7 driver for it, it is shown with a yellow exclamation point (I assume the lack of a driver is the cause of this).


When I switch into XP Mode and look at the USB list of devices available to the XP OS, their is an "Unrecognized Device" listed and it is available to Attach. I have already loaded the 5300 XP driver. When I attempt to attach the Unrecognized Device, it does not work (scanner not found), and the device disappears from the USB list.


So my question is: Is it possible to install this scanner into the XP OS running on Windows 7? If so, does anyone know how to install the ScanJet 5300 on a computer running Windows 7 running the XP OS via XP Mode?
