Delayed write failed

While running 2007 Quicken in the XP virtual mode I keep getting "delayed write failed" error messages. Anyone know what to do about this?

Thanks for your help,
Jon

Hi there
something wrong with the Disk I/O -- maybe a card or cable loose or USB connector failing.

Could even be a Disk is about to die on you.

Check all the cables (even open up the machine if it's a desktop).

Then run a proper disc scan.

It's unlikely to be software -- this type of error is normally a hardware defect. Cables / IDE ribbon connectors etc are the usual suspects.

Cheers

Delayed write error

I tested (chkdsk) the drive that is generating the error and the drive is ok. It is an IDE drive. I will move the data files over to a sata drive and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks for your help

pjhormell, this can be a sign of a dying disk - get your data asap just in case. Then, go to the manufacturer's website and download their drive fitness tools. Run some test (start with short, long ones take... a long time ) - these should reveal additional faults that chkdsk won't. You may even be able to fix certain issues... oh and what jimbo said...

i would still run a test on that drive that was giving you errors... The patient may not be coughing now, but i think he's still sick and a diagnostic test is due.
