Can i make a VM from my current system?

    Hi,

I currently have my work PC dual booted with XP and Windows 7. What i want to do is clone my XP install and then run it on Windows 7 as a Virtual Machine.

When i use the disk2vhd application, it makes a VHD of the partition but when i try to run it in win7 i'm told it's not got the correct paramiters and it fails.

Is it possible to create a copy of the XP install that will be able to be run in Windows 7?

    Cheers

To make XP to boot in a vm is a very complicated task. You may need a tool to do that.

I give you an example, your host computer probably has multiple CPUs, but vpc only supports single cpu vm. So you will have to reconfigure the xp kernel to boot as single cpu.

There are many more settings to change.
