Windows 7: File writing speed in XPM

File writing speed in XPM

I have XPM installed in my Win 7 Ultimate x64 setup. I figured out how to get my USB devices working so I was a happy camper. Until I had to save a file from within a program I was running in XPM. It took literally minutes (2 or 3). Is there a way to speed up operations like this in XPM? I'm thinking maybe I have something configured incorrectly or I'm saving to a folder I shouldn't have used.
