You should not have to buy Professional to get the programs to work. Almost everything that works with vista works with 7. What problems do you encounter when you try to install?

    Welcome to the board!

You could always use use VMWare... It's a bit faster (some report very much faster) and it works on your copy of Windows 7, unlike the MS compatibility mode. You can create a VM in the latest releases if either VMWare server or player products and here comes the news about cost... they are FREE!

Windows 7 pro DOES have the ability to run the VPC mode XP, which you'll have to download from MS. There are several threads on this board about it in the virtualization section.

Other best option without having to spend money to upgrade to another version of Windows is Sun's Virtual Box product, also covered in the virtualization section here. It also works and offers even more options for folder sharing etc.

I use both VPC and VMWare products on my copy of Windows 7 pro.

    Enjoy.

W7 Pro upgrade is qualified for XP mode, but it is not on the disk, you have to download it separately, along with Windows Virtual PC. For it to work, you have to have hardware that is qualified. Download the advisor first.

I believe you, but such a shame that you have to spend additional money. The a/v you can get another and for free like Microsoft Sec Essentials. You have to decide how important the other two are to you. You can keep this ver of Windows and buy new editions of the programs that you like.

Are you sure you do not have 64 bit , now?

I don't know about the other two, but I have Nero 8 (OEM) installed on W7 x64 Pro, and it works fine, without using XP Mode, so it should work on your version also.
