Cannot launch XP Mode
I have a new pc and am trying to set up Windows VM and XP Mode. I have done this before so I have a pretty good idea what to expect but by no means am I very technical. Here is my problem:
When I try to lanuch Windows XP Mode, I get an pop up message stating that the installation file needs to be downloaded. When I click OK, I am taken to the Windows 7 Virtual PC page where you download the two files (Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC).
If I attempt to download either file, I am told that I have already installed or applied the update and am dead in the water.
This is exactly what I did to get to this point:
1. Installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and downloaded all important updates
2. Checked to see if my system has hardware virtualization capability and that it is enabled (running intel i7 920 cpu on an asus p6x58d premium motherboard, 6 gig RAM)
3. Downloaded the Windows XP Mode file and then the Windows Virtual PC with no issues.
When I go to launch Windows XP Mode to configure it, I get the message that the installation file needs to be downloaded. When I attempt to download via the Download Windows XP Mode page, I am told I already have it installed.
I have attempted to go to control panel and remove Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode but neither is listed. I also checked Windows Features and Windows Virtual PC is enabled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
