Is VMware Player 3 compatible with Windows 7. Also I have heard of users seeing a new user on there welcome screen. Is this true? And just one more question. Will this ruin any Network connections, I have a laptop with a wireless connection and after installing VirtualBox in a laptop with wireless and vista caused total mess ups in network connections I had to restore and uninstall the software. Has any1 with a laptop experienced this?
Absolutely -- the Virtual Video has been upgraded so you can run 3-D and full aero on W7 Virtual machines.
Increase the VRAM size in the configuration file as shown in the "Sticky" section.
Note however that DVD playing in a Virtual machine isn't possible yet but Audio streaming IS and a lot more games will be playable -- however those that react directly with the REAL video card / GPU won't still be possible. Older stuff should run however.
You need to install "Vmware tools" once you've powered on your VM -- it's available from the menu so no problem.
the new user that sometimes appears is _vmware_user -- there is a fix to remove this -- it was a while ago but google it.
Incidentally -- (same as for a real machine) you can get the machine to bypass the login screen and log straight on to a "default" user by goiing to accessories ==>run from the main menu (on the VM/ Real machine) enter control userpasswords2 Unclick Users must enter a password to use this machine and you'll be prompted for a user and password that windows will use at next logon bypassing the logon screen.
(Once logged on you can still Lock your machine etc etc).

I experienced a similar problem, but I think mine was really caused by the sheer number of virtual software applications that I was using at the time. As I was testing for work, I had Virtual PC, Sun Virtual Box and VMWare Server 2.0 all installed at the same time. My biggest problem was losing connectivity from my host when switched back and forth from a wireless and a wired connection while in the office. After awhile it seemed that I would just stop pulling DHCP addresses and such.
With all that said, after going to just 1 application on a machine..I haven't had any problems with my network adapters and such with this type of software. I haven't experienced any problems with VMWare Player 3.0 once it came out and I started using it rather than VMWare Server 2.0.
Is it true though that it adds users to the welcome/login screen?
