    Welcome!

Have you tried a System Restore to get to a point before the problem arose?

No, you will not lose your data, only settings and the like. If you are concerned, tell it to scan for affected programs. If you recently installed something, it may need to be reinstalled, but who know, maybe that's a good thing. It could be causing the problem.

But it will not touch your personal files.

That I cannot say. Maybe someone else will post, but if you do not hear from anyone soon, I would go ahead with the System Restore.

As soon as you start the restore process, it will become apparent how to scan for affected programs. Same screen as where you choose the restore point, I believe.
