XP Mode VM faster than host

Hi,

We are testing a specific software in Windows 7 XP Mode, but for our surprise, the results are incredible. We run a specific query to the database and it took 11 minutes to finish the task when using XP Mode Virtual Machine. But when we execute that same query to a clone installation of the software in the host, it takes more than 30 minutes!!!

In every other test, XP Mode Virtual machine is a bit slower than the host (as expected), but with this specific software it's running 3 times faster in the virtual machine.

We also tried VMware Player 3.0.1, and it took a little bit more than the host, as expected.

The PC is a Dell Precision T3500 with a Xeon W3520 (2.66Ghz), 3 Gb DDR3-1066 Triple Channel.

Anyone has any idea of how this can be? Or any utility/test that can help figure this out?
