Question about installing Windows 7 in virtualbox Hi,
I would like to install Windows 7 in a virtualbox. I already have this license of Windows 7 installed on the same PC where I want to run the Windows 7 in Virtualbox, can I still use the same copy to install it in a Virtualbox or do I need to buy another copy of Windows 7?

No. You'll run into activation issues as the "hardware" it sees when you go to activate it under VirtualBox will be different from the machine you have it installed natively on. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony VPCF115FM OS Windows 7 Professional CPU Core i7 720M 2.80GHz Memory 6GB PC 1666 Graphics Card nVidia 330M Monitor(s) Displays 16" Sony Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 500GB Internet Speed 25Mbps |

The virtual hardware counts as separate hardware, so you need a separate license key. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Jonathan King OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 4850e overclocked @ 2.90 GHz Motherboard ASRock A780 FullDisplayPort Memory 6.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 290MHz Crucial Technology Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Wired Desktop 500 (PS/2) Mouse Microsoft Wired Desktop 500 (USB) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w Modular Case Antec 300 Cooling stock cpu, 120mm hard drive bay fan Hard Drives WD 320GB SATA, Hitachi 1TB SATA, Samsung 1.5TB SATA Internet Speed 25 Mb/s download; 1 Mb/s upload |
