vmware workstation 7 locks me out on 7 64bit

Hello,

I'm trying to install vmware workstation 7 on windows 7 ultimate 64bit.

The installation goes fine, but at the reboot the system stalls at the login screen and it never displays the availables users (in my case only me and Guest), so I can't do anything. It just stays there with the graphic blue backgrund.

I've also tried waiting for an hour.

The only thing is pull the plug, restart in safe mode and disable vmware services from starting.

I've tried to unistall and reinstall a few times but without luck.

The machine is a HP Elitebook 2730p 6Gb ram.
I always used vmware server 1 on xp but its drivers are not digitally signed so I cannot use it anymore on 7 64bit.

Do you have any advice?

Thanks everyone in advance!
