COD 4 runs fine for me

I'm running Windows 7 64 ultimate and COD4 runs great for me. I haven't had any problems with punkbuster and I play on PB servers. Have you tried manually updating punkbuster? If not google pbsetup and update from there.

It was only fixed for the official RC, nearly all builds after that have unknown API kicks again.

You can not play games on a virtual machine, I tried it yesterday to see if I could play COD4 and it was a no go.
Exactly. I also tried with COD4 and it plays like a slideshow if at all. You can always lower the resolution and the details/graphics settings but running games on a virtual machine and achieving smooth/playable FPS is not possible.
