Do not be tempted to install a cracked copy of Windows 7 there have been reports of all kinds of nasties hidden in there, key loggers, Trojans, Malware etc as my neighbour found out to his dismay. I did a scan on it for him and forgot how many different infections I found

More infections than a dodgy 'clinic' eh? I really don't use pirated anything, hopefully I can get this sorted but they sure do make it hard to get through to where you need to go to get it sorted lol...Patience is a commodity that has shrunken dramatically over the last 10 years eh? I'll call them Monday and see what's what.

I've never called MS, but on other voice mail usually pressing zero will get you to a person.

Well I don't know if this is a pirate or corporate copy or not. It looks like all the other copies in the shop that I bought it from.

I sent MS Support an email and I also found a UK number to call, the opening hours are mon-fri 8-6 so maybe that's why the automated service won't put me through to a human, because there is nobody there. I don't know. The UK number is 0844 800 2400.

Hilariously, my mate just said on the phone that he can get me a cracked copy of Win 7. How can it be easier to get an illegal copy rather than activate my legal one? haha...oh well I will post back here on Monday when the 'office' is open.
If you have a retail version with the key on the box and a disc with a hologram then I am confident they will activate it for you when you get through

They had better activate it, this wooden leg is killing me and the parrot isn't the cleanest of shoulder dwellers :) I'll post back success or fail but yeh, its the holo-disk and the blue authentic sticker on the side of the box. I think I just installed it too many times in a month

Yep, I was told to wait till I was happy and everything was working right, then activate.
I'm sure if you do too many on the same code they'll flag it then you have to jump through hoops to get it to work.

Well the first install was on a PC that I decided to upgrade, and it would have been fine if the new PC hadn't exploded into small pieces

The only thing that is annoying is that I can't get in touch with anyone. I'm as sure as I can be that this is a legal retail copy, so I reckon that it's gonna be ok. Just a complete pita.

I believe that you get 30 days and can rearm and extend that. After 3 days it tries to AUTO activate...and that may fail...but after than it would say 26 days left to activate or something.
