Phone activation called me a pirate :D

Hello and thanks for reading this

I installed Retail version Win 7 64 on my old system about a month ago. Then decided to upgrade since I caught the upgrade bug. Installed Win 7 on my new system (new motherboard and CPU). Unfortunately that CPU died because of my installation cruelty, and I bought a new one.

I decided to reinstall Win 7 and start over with the right drivers installed to make sure there were no problems with the new CPU.

Just tried to activate, and it said that my code was blocked by MS. So I called them on the activation number. That failed, and it said that my Win 7 might be a pirated copy I don't do fake software Problem is, there was no option to call anyone to verbally confirm what had happened.

Can someone tell me if this all sounds normal? And, what do I do to activate my Win 7? Do I only have 3 days left, and then my OS stops working???

AS you only had Windows 7 installed for month, that would make it look that way.

Try this:
Activation Trial Period - Extend Up to 120 Days

Than late this:
Activate Windows 7 by Phone

Cheers theog I'll give the activation increase a whirl

I called them earlier to phone activate, but after the robot told me that I might have a pirate copy, there was no option to speak to anyone else....Could it be the time of night (10pm)? Should it forward me to a human after that?

Call MS Customer Service. They will validate the Product Key and then if valid open a Tech SUpport case to see that it is being installed correctly, or make it work for you.

The only number I can find for UK is the automated activation line, but when I call that there is no option to press to get through to a human, and if you don't press any numbers it cuts off the call

I go to Help + Support, select Win 7 product, problem type Activation and it tells me to call the automated activation with no customer service number. This method does NOT allow me to speak to a real person.

Follow the steps carefully here Activate Windows 7 by Phone

In particular, pay heed to 9. If Automated Service is Unsuccessful - Note that you will have needed to attempt the automated method first. Only when this is unsucessful will you be put through to an activation operator. There is no option to bypass the automated method in order to speak to the activation operator.

I stay on the line and it cuts me off, saying "NO OPTIONS HAVE BEEN PRESSED, WE ARE NOW ENDING YOUR CALL". The ONLY option to press is * to repeat the information that my software might be Pirated.

you can get this option if you are trying to use a corporate key on a retail install disc or vice versa

It returns completely the wrong code and windows verification process will drop you like a hot brick

This is a retail version of Windows 7 though :S With a full retail box and instructions. I think I'm starting to go insane.

Well I don't know if this is a pirate or corporate copy or not. It looks like all the other copies in the shop that I bought it from.

I sent MS Support an email and I also found a UK number to call, the opening hours are mon-fri 8-6 so maybe that's why the automated service won't put me through to a human, because there is nobody there. I don't know. The UK number is 0844 800 2400.

Hilariously, my mate just said on the phone that he can get me a cracked copy of Win 7. How can it be easier to get an illegal copy rather than activate my legal one? haha...oh well I will post back here on Monday when the 'office' is open.
