    6956 Activation.

Having already activated 6801 32 bit and 64 bit over the phone successfully, can you throw any light on being able to do it on 6956, it doesn't give the phone option on the activation screen,

If you've successfully activated 6956 Windows, info would be appreciated.

    PS. I've tried the ncpa.cpl

You can not Activate 6956, 6801 was the only one that it was possible to do that with. you can still use it for 30 days and by then the official beta should be available.

You can use it for 120 days actually. You can look for it on Google. It sohuld last you long enough to get your hands on the beta

It is also in our Forum in Tutorials https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html
If I were you I would still just wait for the Beta which should be out next month :)

    Hi All,

When it comes to the differences between the builds generally available, I think we have to consider the origin.

Only the 6801 (x86 and x64), was officially released to anyone, and therefore has a usable activation mechanism.

The other builds were purely for Microsoft use at specific events and therefore it is quite possible that the ability to be activated was not even included in the build.

    Hi megafixer,

I am sure you are correct that other methods are available , although these methods are, from what I've read, not without there own problems,.

The fact is that we are discussing a pre-beta of an Operating System that should be in full beta very soon, and therefore should not need to be activated to fulfil it's purpose, which is after all as a test platform.

I would advise anyone running any pre-beta or even Beta software to remember that it is not suitable for running in a live environment, as it could simply stop working at any time either by design, (Normal in Beta Builds) or due to an unknown programming flaw

Just for general info, i'm running W7 as the only one operating system on my hard drive. I tested it with all the software/hardware I use and found it to be 100% compatible. Although I made severe testing for 12/12/2030 date and no problems there. The only thing that might be problematic is Windows Update. But I don't use it, I do critical updates manually as and when necessary :)
