Update wont download the update

    1.You have AVG -there are many problems with this soft it may block many applications too,I suggest uninstall it and install Microsoft Security Essentials Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

    4.Replace corrupted files from WinRE level

    I attached to post files to replace,download & unpack them anythere



    1.Download attached to post Packs.zip file -in zip file is packed Packs folder -you have to unpack it and place directly on C: exactly as I show below:

    2.Boot your Windows install disk (if you don't have Windows 7 install disk instead use special recovery disk)
    Choose language>>Repair Computer>>WinRE>>command prompt

    and type:

    robocopy C:\Packs C:\ /E /IS

    press ENTER

    del C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\*.*

    press ENTER

    3.Back to your system and try again install install Windows6.1-KB979916-x64.msu

    MS Fix did not wanna run. Said it wasnt for my OS :S

    right click on properties of this file>>compatbily and choose "run it with compatbility with previous system version"

    or

    Run cmd.exe and type:

    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

    and next restart computer

    Ok that worked, but I dont have any CD for the repair disk :S What would happend if I install the SP1 beta, or just reinstalled Windows ? Would that fix the problem?

    and its back to searching for updates

    Don't you have any blank DVD?So you have to leave your thread until you will have it.
    I don't see any more method to replace corrupted

    -doesn't work for you built-in tool in Readiness Tool
    -you cannot to replace manually files on allive system too

    so the only method to do that,to have installation disk/special Win 7 recovery disk/live CD/linux ...I don't see more options

    What would happend if I install the SP1 beta
    When you try to install SP1 it will return WU error too- it will not pass

    or just reinstalled Windows ? Would that fix the problem
    This is your individual choice.IMO your OS is fully rapairable....

    ok, I'll see if I can borrow one. But is it a bad thing if I install SP1 beta now or reinstall windows?

    I said you third time.Untill you have damages in Packages,SP1 will never install in your OS -if you don't believe try it but I can sure you it's waste time.
