    Activation nag

Firstly, if this has been answered in another thread, I apologise, although a search of the threads did not answer my query.

I have downloaded an installed from the Microsoft site this version of Win7 RC, which came out in early May to general release. It is the 32 bit version, and activated with a key from the Microsoft site.

    My problem,

Every so often I get a nag saying that Windows needs activating, now I don't get a black background like in Vista, and the wallpaper/theme remains unchanged.

The advice the nag gives is to go to the download site, obtain a new key and enter it. This I have done 3-4 times now, but after a few days the nag reappears.

I know this is an RC version, unpaid for and all that, and that come June next year it going to crash itself every two hours, however, is it normal for the activation nag to keep occurring.?

If not, what can I do about it, other than to keep reentering a key every 3-4 days?

Have you actually Activated it yet?

You need to click on the the Activate now and let it go through to Microsoft etc.....
If you have done that....have you done anyting else...like removing the Watermark with a hack etc....this can cause problems with activation...

Get a new copy, or better yet upgrade to 7127, it shouldn't do that at all, i had a similar problem where every now and then it would tell me my windows isn't activated, id activate and it would be fine, thrn randomly appear again ..

I got the newer 7127 build, and i havent had the problem since :)

Yes it has been activated, originally when it was installed.

It hasn't been hacked cracked or in anyway changed, other than by windows update which operates perfectly.

I have no need to alter it, as I use it for it's intended evaluation purpose.

This is on a dual boot system with Vista being the other OS. I have no problems with Win7, and realise that it will need to be uninstalled next June.

I also have not had any of the other myriads of problems that other users seem to be experiencing, except for this one nag.

It is a genuine download from MS, not a torrent.

Sounds like you did an upgrade install. You might want to take this opportunity to do a clean install to the latest build as suggested above. Even though you did upgrade Im not sure that the installer would change the expiry date from the previous installation.

Sorry, this was a clean install.

Created a seperate partition using vista.

Installed to newly formatted partition using the win7 iso.

Vista is on one partition, win7 on another.

Not an upgrade, a clean fresh install.

I have a dual boot on one hard drive, 2 partitions. One drive C: Vista, one drive F: Win 7.

D and E drives being fixed as DVD and Virtual Cd
