Re installed Windows 7 and now invalid Product Key

I bought my computer yesterday. I had trouble setting it up, i couldn't go to internet because of Netintelligence filtering some websites such as facebook.

So i spent a whole day trying to remove Netintelligence but i finally give up.

Now i have reinstalled Windows 7 from the recovery disk which came with my computer, and it asks for the Product Key. I tried typing the key which is on the back of my compuiter but it says invalid key

    What shall i do?

Download magic jelly bean and use the key number it finds. It will be different
If that does not work call the manufacturer of your computer, not MS, they will help

My best advice would be to take it back to the vendor and explain what happened.

If it's under warrenty why mess with it.

    My two cents.

The magic jeely thing didn't work, it found my key but said my key is inactive, but it said somewhere OEM, does that mean my Windows 7 is not geniune?

    How do i register warranty?

No, you are OK. Call the store that you bought the computer or even better the computer manufacturer. They will tell you how to get the key.
The OEM is causing the problem. OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer, just means that the OS came preinstalled.

Can i just ask, if i borrowed my friends Windows 7 and installed it on my computer, will it work? Will it show up as geniune and not OEM, will it avoid my warranty?

My friend actually bought Windows 7, so it must be geniune.

I would just call and maybe use the warranty, if necessary, Dont take a chance. If it does not work and you bring it back, they will tell you that you tampered and the warranty is no longer valid.

You should have a sticker on it like this,

    How to Tell

That will have your product key on it.

Also, make sure you are putting in the right characters, alot of numbers and letters look very much alike that small.
