    Failure configuring windows updates

    Hi,
So i just upgraded windows vista to Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit so i had lots of updates i needed to install

So i clicked on install, it downloaded and then installed them asking for a restart, i did it, it installed updates then shut down then rebooted, on the reboot it said Configuring Windows updates and went up to 15% and then Failure Configuring Windows Updates, Reverting Changes and then it shuts down, boots back up says Configuring your Computer, and then its just normal and when i login the updates are not installed and it tells me that i have the same number of updates available

    Update History

I have tried resetting Windows Updates but it didn't work, please help
    Thanks

    Well that didn't work, Details:

Basically ^ that's the same details for every update besides the update number and description obviously

    Also details from Event Viewer:
This is what it says for the details of the errors:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80071a90: Update for Windows 7 (KB980846).

Again, the update number changes with each error detail but besides that everything the same

Try selecting just a few updates at a time. If you know which update caused the error de-select it and get as many installed as you can. Them address the ones that won't load.

looks like you have the date and time set incorrectly. That will always cause updates to fail

This worked for me, going to the first link. It gives you three options for correcting the problem, and the last one worked: "Start Windows Update with a clean restart of Windows." I have an HP Pavilion Laptop running Windows 7 Professional on a 64 bit machine.
