7.Try also clean boot How to Troubleshoot a Problem by Performing a Clean Startup in Windows 7 or Vista
If none of above advice help then I have question
When you go to Start>>Search>>services.msc can you run Windows Update service?
if ansers is:NO then follow below:
1.Download Process Monitor: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896645.aspx
and run it.
2.Go Start>>Search>>Services.msc and try manually run Windows Update service,when it return error,save log in Process Monitor as *.PML format
3.Download & run VistaSysInfoTool http://www.vistax64.com/attachments/...ms-sysinfo.exe
,select all in this tool and create log.
4. Download & run RegBak tool Acelogix Software - Freeware
,this tool will create backups of registry files.
For me important are SOFTWARE and SYSTEM files.
5.Find also CBS.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder
