    Win7 64 bit update stuck

I went to shut down my machine and at shut down it started installing windows updates. It has been stuck for 6 hours on, "Please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 5 of 5." The little circle has been spinning.

As of 3 days ago I manually check that all the updates were up to date and installed.

How do I get out of this loop?

Hello ingaiyoung Welcome to the Seven Forums!

The first thing I do here whenever any updates are going on like the latest seen this week and one hangs is hit the reset button and use the custom not automatic update option to find out what they are and only check off one or two of the optional as well as important updates.

One at a time if needed is what will usually see all go on like some of the latest also seeing some installation problems here. In fact I had just finished grabbing a screen of the latest seeing some hangs and repeat successes(image attached below) where I had to keep going back after a few of several once some saw results.

You don't have to leave a system hanging for hour after hour but be selective on which ones you check off when going for them manually.
