is it the same # on the new battery ?
maybe there's something wrong with the new one .
is there a way you can test it on another system to make sure it works.
you may also want to remove the battery and then put it back in.

after you set the time in the bios, start windows and manually update the time (if it doesnt set itself.)
if windows update still doesnt work, try this: How do I reset Windows Update components?
